Honors and Awards and yearbooks are coming! Two of the things that are always integral to the end of a school year are: 1) honoring our students who have gone above and beyond in some way and excelled in their learning and their efforts and 2) passing out yearbooks. We do not want to miss this opportunity to honor those students or to make sure everyone who ordered a yearbook gets theirs. So...here's the plan: we are putting together awards and yearbooks in mailers and will begin sending those out during the week of June 8. Look for these items in the mail after that date. And thank you to all of our students for sticking together with us during the last 12 weeks of the school year! Your determination and willingness to adapt has been inspiring!

Parents and students--Hard to believe, but we are wrapping up the year next week and we're ready for a Huskie round up! It's time to return Chromebooks & chargers, textbooks, library books, etc. It's also time to bring some closure to this most unusual year and we want to see you off to summer vacation in person. So...all items belonging to the school can be returned on Thursday evening, June 4 between 6-7 PM or Friday, June 5, between 10 AM and 2 PM. All you need to do is drive up to our front doors, stop at the curb, stay in your vehicle, and be ready to hand off your items to a staff member--several of us will be there to take care of you and to see you off for the summer. If neither of those options work for you, we can schedule a visit at a different time. Contact Mr. Keyser at keyser@hemlockps.com if necessary. Those who would need to keep their Chromebooks to complete summer school classes will have a different collection time.

Parents and students--a look ahead--we are planning on a return of Chromebooks, textbooks, library books, etc. for next week. Probably Thursday evening and Friday mid-day, both for a span of time. If neither of those options work for you, we can schedule a visit at a different time. Contact Mr. Keyser at keyser@hemlockps.com if necessary. You would not need to leave your vehicle--following all social distancing guidelines, just drive up to the designated place at the building and a staff member would take your items from you. More specific information to follow shortly! Those who would need to keep their Chromebooks to complete summer school classes will have a different collection time.

#scienceinaction Wyatt and Lauren made a sweet little nest for a robin’s egg that they found. They weaved grass, shrubs, dandelions and used mud to hold it all together. Complete with the fuzz from the dandelion all around the egg to keep it warm so it will hatch 😉 I think they did a better job than the robins do 🤣

Oops! Sorry I missed Monday Morning "Meeting". I've been doing some reading. Here's what I found that makes good sense when it comes to handling the everyday stresses that go along with our stay-at-home order: There are steps anyone can take when feeling anxiety and stress levels rising: Motion. We’ve got to get up every 60-90 minutes and move around. Shoot some basketball. Take walks. Run. Play tennis. We need endorphins to flow. Margin. We must make sure our stress isn’t due to an overcrowded schedule. Be realistic about what can get done each day. Reduce noise or clutter if possible. Mindfulness. Instead of thinking about everything at once, try focusing your mind and breathing. Mono-task, don’t multitask. Pick one thing to get done and then move on to the next thing. Management. Part of handling stress issues is learning to manage stress: limit time on social media; get enough sleep; eat well; practice self-talk.
