Competing at the FIRST Championship in Houston against more than 600 elite teams from around the globe, Team 5712 battled through intense competition, earned a spot on Alliance 4 on the legendary Curie Field, and represented Hemlock with grit, resilience, and heart.
But their biggest accomplishment came at the end of the competition, when Gray Matter was awarded the prestigious Gracious Professionalism Award — one of the highest honors in FIRST Robotics.
This award recognizes teams that compete with excellence while lifting others up, showing respect, serving their peers, and proving that character matters just as much as performance.
Behind this achievement were countless hours of work from students, mentors, parents, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters who believed in this team every step of the way.
On the world stage, Team 5712 was recognized not just for what they built — but for who they are.

Serving as team captain, Hauffe earned Most Valuable Player honors and was named the Tri-Valley Conference Blue Player of the Year while also receiving All-Conference recognition.
During the season, Victoria also reached the incredible milestone of scoring 1,000 career points in a Huskie uniform, cementing her place among the top players in program history.
Her season also included selection to the MLive Saginaw News Dream Team along with multiple All-State honors, including Detroit Free Press and Detroit News Honorable Mention All-State recognition and BCAM Best All-State Honorable Mention honors.
In the classroom, Hauffe continued to excel as a BCAM Outstanding Senior Student-Athlete and BCAM Individual Academic All-State honoree.
The Huskies also earned BCAM Team Academic All-State honors and placed sixth in the BCAM Team 3-Point Shooting competition, highlighting the team’s success both on and off the court.
Victoria’s senior season leaves a lasting mark on Hemlock basketball and reflects the dedication, leadership, and excellence she brought to the program throughout her career.

Gavin has consistently demonstrated excellence in the classroom, leadership in athletics, and strong character throughout his time at Hemlock High School.
A multi-sport athlete, Gavin leads by example on the field and court while continuing to represent Hemlock with pride through his work ethic, dedication, and team-first mindset.
His commitment was especially evident on the night of the honors banquet, when he first helped lead the Varsity Baseball team to a victory over Chesaning before attending the event later that evening.

Last week our Huskie football team returned from Team Camp at Hartley Outdoor Education Center where they spent three days developing leadership, teamwork, resilience, and discipline. From team-building challenges and classroom sessions to practices and obstacle courses, our student-athletes embraced every opportunity to grow together.
The work happening now is about more than football. It's about building leaders, strengthening character, and preparing for the challenges ahead.
We're proud of the effort these Huskies put in and can't wait to cheer them on when they take the field this fall.

Congratulations to our two ace pitchers, Gavin Schmidt and Blake Willman, on each surpassing the 100-strikeout milestone this season!
Reaching 100 strikeouts is a testament to countless hours of hard work, determination, and dominance on the mound. Having two pitchers accomplish this in the same season is an incredible achievement and a reflection of the talent and dedication within our baseball program.

Emma Jaremba became Hemlock’s first-ever 140-pound State Champion, totaling an incredible 660 pounds.
Layne Robinson earned a 2nd place finish in the 181-pound class while also setting a new state record with a 360-pound deadlift.
The success continued across the lineup as Kaylee Burns placed 6th, Jalynn Bauman finished 10th, and the girls team earned an impressive 4th place overall out of 116 schools.
On the boys side, Kaiden Knapik and Brayden Stanard both achieved new personal records in the deadlift, while Andrew Reid captured 3rd place in the 123-pound class and set new PRs in both squat and deadlift.
Strength. Discipline. Determination. This team raised the bar all season long, and their performances at JV States showcased the hard work and dedication behind Hemlock Powerlifting.

Led by Head Coach Nick Prezzato, the team will compete through PlayVS in a variety of esports titles while building valuable skills both in and out of competition.
Esports at Hemlock is about more than gaming. Students develop teamwork, communication, strategic thinking, leadership, accountability, and problem-solving skills while exploring future opportunities in STEM and technology-related fields.

The Huskies captured the Mid American Pompon Class C/D State Championship title, capping off an unforgettable season filled with growth, resilience, and team success.
Throughout the year, the team embraced Hemlock’s “Pull the Sled” mindset, supporting one another and working together toward a shared goal. Their dedication showed all season long, from strong performances at summer camp and regional competitions to first-place finishes at both the Michigan Pom Association Competition and the Mid American Pompon State Championship.
The team also earned several individual honors, with six athletes being selected to the Mid American Pompon All Star Team and earning opportunities to perform at major events including the Thanksgiving Day Parade, Cedar Point, and Walt Disney World.
Beyond the awards and titles, this group built a culture centered on encouragement, accountability, and shared leadership. These qualities that helped define one of the most successful seasons in program history.
Congratulations to the athletes, coaches, and families who made this incredible season possible.
