We're committed to fostering a positive and responsive environment for our students, staff, and families. When it comes to addressing concerns or complaints, knowing the right steps can make all the difference. Here's a quick guide on how to effectively navigate through any issues:
1️⃣ Start Where It Starts: The best solutions often come from the source. If you have a concern, begin by discussing it with the directly involved person, such as a teacher or coach. They're often best equipped to understand and resolve the issue.
2️⃣ School Leadership Steps: If your concern needs further attention, the next step is to reach out to the school's principal. They play a key role in overseeing school operations and ensuring a harmonious learning environment.
3️⃣ Elevating Your Concern: For broader issues or unresolved concerns, our Superintendent is your go-to. They oversee district-wide operations and are dedicated to maintaining our standards of excellence.
4️⃣ Governing Board: The Governing Board of Education is focused on shaping our mission, vision, and policies. While they don't manage day-to-day operations, they're vital in steering our district's strategic direction. If you don't find a solution by following steps 1 - 2 - 3, voicing your concern to the board would be an appropriate next step. The board meets monthly (typically the first Wednesday) and values good listening and directing concerns appropriately.
The chain of command promotes efficiency and effectiveness, fostering dialogue and excellence in education. Let's thrive together! 💬

It's #TeacherFeatureTuesday and today we're featuring the kind-hearted Kristi Frost, a Special Education teacher here at Hemlock Middle School for the past 4 years.
Here are some fun facts:
• Her worst fashion decision was made during those awkward Middle School years when she let her oldest sister convince her to get her hair cut short on one side of her head, and longer on the other side. She confesses it was very strange for the time.
• ELA was her favorite subject in school.
• A hidden talent she has is an uncanny ability to sing just like the artist on the radio. In her own mind, at least, she has mad vocal skills.
• If she won the lottery and decided to give up her position at HPSD, she'd be living on a lake, drinking her coffee in the morning while watching the fog dance across the water. Then, she'd go fishing, swimming, and pontooning for the rest of the day. She would end those perfect days with cooking on the campfire.
• A quote she lives her life by is, "When things aren't going right, go left!" by Daniel Handler, A.K.A. Lemony Snicket
We’re so grateful to have you in our Huskie Pack, Ms. Frost!

This week's #StaffSpotlight is on the radiant Rebekah Harris, our Social Worker here at Hemlock Elementary and K.C. Ling Elementary.
We wanted you to get to know her a little better, so here are some fun nuggets of information you may not know about her:
• Songs she could listen to on repeat are Hibernate With Me by Benjamin Scheuer or Excess Love by Mercy Chinwo.
• What did she want to be when she grew up? She remembers telling her Kindergarten class that she just wanted to be a mom. She also wanted to be a missionary, to serve and help others.
• If she won the lottery and decided to give up her position at HPSD, she'd travel and work overseas.
• We asked her what superlative she would have been given in school, and she shared that in college she was given “most likely to binge watch 16 seasons of a show in a week” (slightly exaggerated, but it definitely happened ), and “most likely to have 18 children”.
• If a movie were to be made about her life, Amy Adams would be the perfect actress to play her.
• Words she lives her life by are found in Micah 6:8, "And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
We’re grateful you’re part of the Huskie Pack, Ms. Rebekah!

The Hemlock High sophomore Physics and Chemistry classes recently spent the day at Delta College learning about semiconductors and related careers.
The Delta College Stem Explorer program partnered with HSC and SK Siltron CSS to provide students with 5 different hands-on activity stations. Stations covered topics ranging from robotics and automation, the HSC manufacturing process, electrical engineering, and the CSS silicon carbide wafer manufacturing process.
Students also got a tour of Delta College and got to try out tools such as the virtual laparoscopic simulator.

🦷 Is it hard for you to find time to get your child to the dentist? Well, now the dentist can come to your child.
We are partnering up with Great Lakes Bay Health Centers Mobile Dental Bus for your child's dental health. On September 5th one of their hygienists will be at the elementary schools to talk to the students about the importance of brushing their teeth. Your child will be sent home with a form. Fill this out if you'd like your child to be seen and send it back to school with them. They will work directly with your insurance company and get your child scheduled.
On March 18 - 21st, the bus will park at each of our campus buildings, do cleanings, and an exam with the dentist. Our school nurse will work with the secretaries at each building to get them safely to the bus for their cleaning and dental exams. Once they are done, they will return to class with a new toothbrush and a report card to take home.
If you wish to have your middle or high school students seen, simply have them stop by their school office on March 1st and grab a form. Make sure to get the forms back as soon as possible so they know how many students to expect.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to Nurse Becky at killingbeck.becky@hemlockps.com.
