Hemlock High School’s Book Club ran their 9th Annual Pajama Drive community service project. Our students and teachers donated more than 100 pairs of pajamas this year. The pajamas will be delivered to the Underground Railroad of Saginaw.
Students from Mrs. Woodcock’s first hour Art I class collected the most pajamas during the drive and earned themselves a “Whitford Waffle Breakfast.”

It's #TeacherFeature Tuesday and today we're featuring the jovial Jamie Wieland, a 4th grade teacher at Hemlock's K.C. Ling Elementary.
We wanted you to get to know Mrs. Wieland a little better, so here are some fun facts about her:
• She could listen to "Cover Me Up" by Morgan Wallen on repeat.
• Reading was her favorite subject in school, but Math is now her favorite subject to teach.
• She has always wanted to be a teacher. Her mom had an in-home daycare when she was little, so there were always lots of kids available to be her "students". Flash forward, and she's been teaching at Ling for 3 years.
• We asked her which Disney character best represents her and she said Cinderella, because she feels like the housework never ends, and sometimes she finds herself chatting with her dogs instead of doing said housework.
• If she won the lottery and decided to give up teaching, she would travel all around the world with her family and try to avoid the cold and snow.
We’re so thrilled to have you in our Huskie Pack, Mrs. Wieland!

When nostalgia meets creativity! 🎶 One of our staff members stumbled upon an old record from the early '80s by pianist and singer-songwriter Keith Green and had an ingenious idea. Hemlock High School senior and photoshop wizard Ana Rodriguez took the reins and, with the help of a little modern magic, updated the cover for our very own Keith Green.🎨
We're not quite sure whether any music will be emerging from this Keith Green, but we're certainly enjoying the harmonious transformation of our High School principal!

Hemlock residents will be asked, on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024, to renew the previously approved non-homestead base millage.
The non-homestead millage comprises over $1.8 million of the school district’s annual operating budget. Note that this is not related to the HPSD bond proposal put before voters in May of 2022.
This proposal will not impact the taxes on owner-occupied homes in our district. Only second or rental homes, commercial properties and industrial properties are affected.
Renewal of the non-homestead millage is essential to maintaining the current programs offered by the district. If this funding is lost, the district cannot replace it with any other funding source.
While primary households are not affected by this millage, state law requires a district wide election to approve the millage.
📌 Facts at a glance:
• HPSD voters last approved the non-homestead operating millage in 2022.
• The millage is for a period of 10 years
• This is a tax assessed against businesses and second homes, NOT homeowners
• All residents in the Hemlock Public School District vote on the renewal
• This money is used for district operations
• This money cannot be replaced by other funding sources
