At their regular December Board of Education meeting, the Hemlock Board of Education proudly honored bus driver Sandy Sherbino-Boyer, custodian Dean Keeler, and Head Mechanic Rick Franzel. These three are the kind of everyday difference-makers who keep our district rolling, running, and ready—often before most of us have finished our first cup of coffee.

We applaud Sandy, Dean, and Rick for their dedication, passion, and teamwork. Hemlock is stronger because of you.

This season reminds us that the greatest investments don’t always show up on balance sheets. They show up in classrooms, in kindness, and in the quiet ways our community gives back.

Together, we’re growing something beautiful. 🌟

Even the small days matter. Each time a student walks through the school doors, they’re making progress. A simple reminder like, "You grow a little more every time you show up" can make Monday mornings easier. We’ll see you tomorrow. #GoodAttendanceIsAGamechanger #HuskieAttendance #GrowthThroughPresence

Ever wonder how our entryways and sidewalks are cleared after a snow? Meet the behind-the-scenes heroes who make Monday mornings possible.

A huge thank you to Mike Walton for being out there on Sunday, shoveling to ensure our athletes had safe access for practices today and that students, staff, and families can start the week with clear, safe walkways tomorrow morning.

This is what teamwork looks like. Quiet dedication. Big impact.

After adding a little holiday magic to the windows at Swanhaven Manor yesterday, our upper-level art students spent the afternoon soaking up inspiration at the Alden B. Dow Home and Studio before taking in the views from the Whiting Forest canopy walk. A full day of creativity, connection, and Huskie pride.

This week, Laura Trombley, director of the Lockwood STEM Center, delivered the non-perishable food items collected by students from Hemlock High School and the STEM Center to God’s Helping Hands. These donations will provide meaningful support to families in need.

Thank you, Hemlock community — your generosity makes a difference. We truly are #BetterTogether.

Helping Hands
At their regular December Board of Education meeting, the Board enjoyed a great snapshot of the energy and momentum happening across our high school. Members were treated to a preview performance by our band ahead of the Christmas Concert, heard an exciting update from the Director of the Lockwood STEM Center on this year’s robotics season and our plans to host a MindTrekkers event with Michigan Tech later this spring, and wrapped up the building visit with a tour of our fitness center and newly renovated science classrooms.

It was a strong reminder of what makes Hemlock special—talented students, committed staff, and learning spaces that continue to grow with opportunity.

Hemlock Elementary is proud to recognize Young Fives student Aidren Taylor from Mrs. Chludil’s class as their Student of the Month.

Aidren consistently demonstrates kindness, respect, and a positive attitude in the classroom. He follows directions, works hard, and sets an excellent example for his peers each day. We are grateful to have him as a part of our Huskie pack.

Way to #PullTheSled, Aidren.

Hemlock Huskie History Fact 🕰️ Did you know Hemlock Public School District is older than the Band-Aid?

Invented in 1920 by Earle Dickson for Johnson & Johnson, the Band-Aid arrived decades after Hemlock began educating students in 1863. Talk about sticking around. 🩹
