Do you know a middle school girl who is curious about technology? Camp Infinity is a one-week summer technology camp for girls entering grades 5th-8th in Fall 2019. Camp Infinity introduces girls to computer and internet technologies through hands-on activities. Campers are split into two groups according to the Fall 2019 grade level: 5th-6th grade and 7th-8th grade. Campers in grades 5th-6th will create their own web page using HTML and program Dash robots. Campers in grades 7th-8th will create their own web page using HTML and program EV3 or Vex robots. In addition, students will participate in mini- sessions that highlight programming skills and real-world uses of technology. Campers will also get an opportunity to meet with women who work in technological fields and explore career options in technology. For more information, please visit the camp registration page. https://mymcwt.secure.force.com/Events/cnp_paas_evt__ExternalRegistrationPage?Site_Id=a2N0a000000dm0nEAA

Our PSAT 8 testing went great Tuesday. Perfect attendance! Thank you for getting this new testing off to a great start. FYI- This replaces the previous M-STEP testing in math and ELA fire 8th graders.

8th grade parents and students: PSAT8 TESTING TOMORROW!! Please arrive on time, fired up for success, and ready to ace this test!!

Track practice will begin April 10.

ATTENTION 8TH GRADE PARENTS/GUARDIANS AND STUDENTS:
It is imperative that all 8th grade students are in attendance all day on Tuesday, April 9 to complete the state-mandated PSAT 8. The test will begin immediately as students arrive and will not be completed until lunch time (11:30am).
It is vital that if you have any pre-arranged absence, that you reschedule out another time for the appointment, as the PSAT is mandatory for all students on this day.
Thank you for your time and understanding in this matter and the best of luck to all students on Tuesday!

Thanks to Culvers for donating the frozen custard rewards to our 7th graders as their reward for winning the Penny Wars contest. Yummy treats!

Back to school in Monday! Hope you had a good Spring Break. We look forward to seeing you!!

April 1--School resumes from Spring Break

March 27 at noon--3rd Marking Period Report Cards available for viewing in Skyward

CONGRATULATIONS....Sophia Hauffe. She has read 2 million words! Way to go Sophia!!

Thank you to our local law enforcement agencies for teaming up to bring their full contingent of drug dogs to our high school and middle school today. Saginaw and Bay County Sheriff's Departments, Saginaw Township PD, and coordination with Richland Twp. PD. WORKING TOGETHER TO KEEP OUR KIDS SAFE!! HMS practiced Secure Mode Safety Drill today prior to the dogs' arrival and continued that throughout the visit. FYI- During these visits, the handlers always "plant" some contraband in areas where students are not present as a means of rewarding the dogs for working hard on their search. That also lets us know that the dogs are actively searching and finding any contraband. Good news=no contraband found! (Except for the "plants", of course). Lots of good questions from our kids as well. If parents have any questions about these visits, please contact your child's school principal for more information.

Spring Fling Dance- is scheduled for Tuesday April 23rd, 2:45-4:30. Chaperones are needed.

A big Thank You to Officer Brian Pitt for talking to our students yesterday about his career in law enforcement, specifically about his specialty, computer forensics. This tied in well with Officer Whitney Meissner's message to our kids last week about internet and phone safety. Brian works for a number of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to fight technology-based crime and did a great job of explaining to our students how data storage and retrieval works on social media, phones and other devices. The big takeaway-nothing ever disappears from the internet and nothing is secret!

Thought for the day:

Follow up to the earlier post this week regarding engineering with Spheros: we can now control their movement and colors in more complicated scenes with obstacles and patterns.

Don't have time in the morning for your child(ren) to have breakfast.
No worries, we have breakfast ready daily in each building cafeteria.
