SAFETY DRILLS Fire, tornado, and other emergency drills are held regularly to develop safety practices that will help students to move quickly in an orderly manner to designated safety areas during an emergency. Rules of safety are reviewed regularly and posted in each classroom. Students are required to be silent and shall comply with the directives of school officials during emergency drills. Each school shall conduct a minimum of five (5) fire drills, two (2) tornado drills, and three (3) lockdown drills each school year. During a drill or actual emergency, personal safety will depend upon the way in which students carry out regular procedures or modified instructions that the situation may dictate. FIRE DRILL = pulsing horn and flashing lights TORNADO DRILL = intermittent siren-like sound
