10 Tips to Make the Most of Your Parent-Teacher Conference
Before the Conference
3. Make a list of questions.
Now that you’ve talked with your child and reviewed schoolwork, make a list of questions. If you’re stumped, use this list of questions to ask teachers.
Think through anything you want to make sure the teacher knows. Are there specific things that helped your child thrive in school in the past? Have there been any big changes in your family or living situation? Are there holidays you’ll be away? Talk with other family members to make sure you cover everything.
Once you have your list, put questions and concerns in order of importance, so you can cover the biggest things first. Use this parent-teacher conference worksheet to get organized.

New from the Saginaw ISD: The next Autism Parent Support Group meeting will be this Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 6:00pm at the Saginaw ISD Transitions Center. This will be a more traditional roundtable format where parents can discuss their questions, concerns and celebrations with one another in a parents-only setting. A flyer listing upcoming opportunities is also attached and you can RSVP for meetings here.
A few notes:
This year, informational sessions are offered by the Great Lakes Bay ABA Collaborative Network during the day, and parent discussion times and family outings will be held in the evenings (and possibly some Saturdays). The flyer for the informational sessions is attached. There is a wealth of information being offered, so please be sure to take a look and try to attend!
We are looking into arranging some family "outings" throughout the year. The first of these is planned for December 2, 2019 at 6:00pm. The Family Holiday Jingle & Mingle will be a very low-key, sensory friendly gathering to celebrate the holiday season with our support group friends. Children are welcome, and we'll have some fun activities for them to enjoy.

10 Tips to Make the Most of Your Parent-Teacher Conference on November 14, 1-4 and 5:30-7:30.
Most parent-teacher conferences only last 10 or 15 minutes. That’s not a lot of time to connect with your child’s teacher. But with a little preparation and planning, you can make the most of this time. Here are 10 tips that can help.
Before the Conference 2. Talk with your child. Get a sense from your child about how school is going. What’s most and least enjoyable? Does your child feel unsure about school? Who does your child sit with at lunch? (For more ideas, see this list of questions to ask your child.) Ask your child if there’s anything you should talk to the teacher about. Mention that every family has a conference, so your child doesn’t worry about what this meeting means.
