Mrs. Kato’s 8th grade STEAM classes have been working for 8 weeks on creating an invention that solves a problem. Check out a few of the inventions created. These students will be entering their projects to the invention convention.

Knights of Columbus Regional Spelling Bee - Merrill MS: Saturday, February 27, 2021 Isabelle Hutfilz - 6th place Lia Hoffmann - Regional Champion State Spelling Bee - May 1 in Essexville. Lia Hoffmann will represent our region and most importantly Hemlock Middle School.

6th grade students were challenged to create a cellphone holder for hands free video viewing and a device to keep headphone wires from becoming tangled. The class voted for the top designs to be printed.

With the Spirit Week win by the 5th Grade class, below are the updated points for the race for the Class Cup! —- Each grade was awarded the following: --- 1ST PLACE | 40 points - 5th Grade 2ND PLACE | 30 points - 8th Grade 3RD PLACE | 20 points - 6th Grade 4TH PLACE | 10 points - 7th Grade —- March will bring new competitions and events to merit point values, so be prepared!
