Hello Middle School parents and students: Mr. Keyser sent all of our students a email this afternoon. Checking in to see if all are okay, if they need anything to be as successful as possible in doing their schoolwork, and encouraging them to stick with it and be strong. Please check that email and review it together. Respond as necessary to any of the questions that may pertain to you and your student. Stay strong and stay healthy! We are dedicated to your success!

Here's an idea that all of our students can participate in just for fun. A chance to win cash prizes!! https://sites.google.com/d/1RV6BQQJGlHgsJ780RXQ8Tl0t8uyQlovZ/p/1SL9CTeepAV4nkK-POE632SFWDZPACvv-/edit

Learning is continuing for all of our Huskies. Have you checked Skyward to see how your child is doing in their studies? If not, this is the perfect time. And doing so regularly is a necessity. More than ever, our students need parent follow-up to ensure their success. It is imperative that all of our students continue to do their best--completing learning activities, submitting assignments, following up if necessary with suggested corrections to get full credit. We need all of our parents to be diligent in tracking their child's progress and supporting their learning. If you have questions about how your child is doing, do not hesitate to contact their teacher(s), Mrs. Zastrow (zastrow@hemlockps.com or 989.372.1307) or Mrs. Keyser (keyser@hemlockps.com or 989.482.3429)

It's time to reclaim your child's belongings from school, if they left things behind in their locker. It looks like Friday will bring us good weather; a good time to reclaim their things. We have removed all remaining items from lockers and placed them in labeled bags. You'll be getting a contact from school personnel to let you know if you have items to pick up. To ensure safety, we've scheduled pickup times by grade for Friday, April 17 in the afternoon. Fifth grade noon to 1:00. Sixth grade 1:00-2:00. Seventh grade 2:00-3:00. Eighth grade 3:00-4:00. Items will be placed on tables under our front entrance for pickup per this schedule. Please follow social distancing rules-one person at a time at the tables, touch only your child's bag, only have someone with no symptoms of illness claim the belongings. If necessary, you can contact Mr. Keyser about this- keyser@hemlockps.com or 989.482.3429 between 9 AM and 3:00 PM using text or voice.

Working from Home

Mr. Keyser misses doing the Monday Morning Meeting announcements! So....Happy birthdays going out this week to Jericho Orange 4/14, Cody Krueger and Blake Lepla 4/15, Nathan Jarabeck, Wyatte Near, Lissa Stephan and Kara Kienitz 4/16. I hope that all of our students are keeping up on their studies this week. You'll note that gradebooks are being updated regularly, so stay on top of things. You'll also notice that the workload is not the same as if we were here at school each day--we recognize that many of our students have added responsibilities at this time as well as new family opportunities, so we want to respect those things. If you need any assistance at all with school work, please contact your teacher directly--they are here to help you! Moms and dads--if you have any questions, you can reach your child's teachers using email or you can reach Mr. Keyser at keyser@hemlockps.com. We want this new adventure in online learning to be successful so as much learning as possible can go on for the rest of the year. We need everyone's help and cooperation to make it work. Have a great week!!

Hey Huskies!

Mrs. Slominski’s class watching “lightning thief” movie for a compare and contrast to the novel we read! Love this was our last afternoon together!

Throwback Thursday, April 3. Hoping all is well with you!

Food Service will continue providing breakfast and lunch bags from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm during spring break. This will occur on Monday, March 30, Wednesday, April 1, and Friday, April 3 from 10:00 am -12:00 pm. Parents please stay in your vehicles, we will have staff bring it out to them from door #29.

It might seem simply like a continuation, and maybe not what you had planned, but here's hoping you enjoy Spring Break. Enjoy time with family, get outside and have some fun, and send Mr. Keyser a picture or two of what you're doing during Break. Keyser@hemlockps.com

We had a "virtual staff meeting" this morning with all HMS teachers! It was great to see each of them and hear each other's voices. We all miss being at school and seeing our students and each other. One topic of discussion was "How are our students doing in terms of meeting learning expectations and preparing for the future when we return to school?" The answers varied, but overall our kids are doing very well using online learning. Please remember--there is work to do on the part of both teachers and students to prepare for when we return--we need everyone engaged in learning to make this work. #hemlockteachersonthejobforkidsnomatterwhat #hemlockstudentsarecontinuingtolearn
