The pandemic didn't stop Mr. Wilkowski from getting the salmon to their final destination. Some students even made the trek to help out on a Saturday. The salmon project is always a student favorite.

Mrs. Kaczynski took her class outside for some awesome social emotional learning. The subject was Motivation. They had to draw a body outline on the sidewalk. They had to write their challenges on their shoulders, some positive self-talk on their head (to self-motivate), their goals on their feet (walking toward them), their strengths to achieve these goals on their arms and on their heart they had to write their passions.

Congratulations to Kassandra for winning 1st place in the Saginaw County Invention Convention. She was challenged to solve a problem that was important to her. She came up with a prototype that would add light to the bottom of her skateboard so she could spend more time outside even if it was dark. These opportunities for students to solve real world problems happen everyday in Mrs. Kato’s STEAM class. Thank you Mrs. Kato for going the extra mile so make sure our students at HMS have these kind of opportunities throughout the year.

The Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational will again partner with The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Foundation to bring their LPGA Leadership Academy to Michigan this June to help develop the next generation of female leaders through a blend of golf and business skills. This marks the second year this partnership has brought this unique program to the State.
The two-day event will be presented by the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational on June 21 - 22, 2021 at Bucks Run Golf Club in Mt. Pleasant. A unique aspect of the program is an interactive female leadership panel discussion in which several Dow women executives share their college and career journeys, key learning along the way, and openly engage in answering questions from the participants.
In addition to attending the Academy, each participant will be eligible to apply for The LPGA Foundation Scholarship Program, which includes invitations to LPGA events, mentoring programs and a $5,000 college scholarship. Details about The LPGA Leadership Academy and applications for participation can be found via the registration website link: https://www.girlsgolf.org/2021/leadership-academy-michigan. All young women ages 13 - 18 interested in golf and planning to pursue a STEM related field in college are encouraged to apply online immediately.
