Hemlock, MI- The Hemlock Athletic Department welcomed home their past all-sport honorees from 1961, ‘71, ‘81, ‘91, ‘01, ‘11, and 2021 on Friday, January 21st. They were honored at halftime of the varsity basketball game against Millington with a resounding round of applause and a token of appreciation.

In attendance that night was the family of Harvey Nothelfer, the 1961 award-recipient. Also in attendance was Greg Kilbourn from 1971, Jeremy Doan from 1991, Peyton Apsey and Shelby Herrington from 2011. Rounding out the alumni were our 2021 winners Cassidy Peake and Regan Finkbeiner, representing her brother, Nolan Finkbeiner. The other award winners who were unable to attend the event were Sue Pankow and Gary Woolever from 1981, Melissa Tessin and Lance Lisik from 1991, Janelle Woida, Troy Sanchez, and Ann-Marie Cicinelli from 2001, and Nathan Blohm from 2011.

The special guests gave those in attendance an update of life since high school, their favorite memory while playing sports here at Hemlock, as well as golden advice to our current and future Huskie athletes.

Jeremy Doan, the 1991 recipient said of the event, “The All Sport recognition night was a wonderful event. It was so nice to see all of my former students who’ve won the award and meet people who won previously. I enjoyed myself very much. Thank you to Hemlock High School and Mr. Snider for hosting the event. It was a very kind gesture to recognize us.”

Athletic Director Cory Snider added, “To have these members of such an elite club be willing to come back home was such an honor for Hemlock Public School District. It was a great evening and was wonderful to hear about all the outstanding things our former graduates are doing today. Hemlock graduates continue to amaze me at what they accomplish and are able to achieve after graduation. We are looking forward to next winter when we can recognize our next group of award-winning athletes.”
