Ben Lockwood

Hemlock, MI- Hemlock student Ben Lockwood and future leader in manufacturing and engineering spoke to the members of SME and the Michigan Manufacturing Association. Ben discussed the need for educating students in manufacturing and manufacturing practices. In attendance at this event were many Saginaw business leaders including Fullerton tool President Patrick Curry and State Representative Ken Horn.

Dana Lockwood said, “As a mom, I am thrilled that Ben has been able to learn so much in high school.  Having SME - PRIME provide such sophisticated equipment has helped our high school students prepare for work experiences or college after graduation.”

Hemlock high school in conjunction with the Saginaw ISD and the Saginaw Career Complex have invested in this opportunity for our community and for our students. This program will educate students in the need for Manufacturing and engineering to drive our Nation's economy.

According to Heath Marietta (Hemlock Industrial Arts and PRIME instructor), “ There is a workforce shortage in the Manufacturing segment of our country. We are providing students with hands-on instruction for careers that are in need and preparing them for their future.”
