HEMLOCK, MI — Thursday night’s football game between Hemlock High School and Garber was about more than the final score. The evening brought together students, staff, families and community members for a celebration of school spirit, student talent and the strong sense of community that makes Hemlock special.
The evening featured performances from several Hemlock High School programs. At halftime, the Hemlock Pom Team took the field, bringing energy and excitement to the crowd. The team is coached by Ms. Oldenburg and Ms. Galonska.
The Hemlock High School Band, under the direction of Mr. Bicigo, provided music throughout the evening, including the National Anthem, the Hemlock fight song and a three-song halftime performance. Their performance highlighted the talent, preparation and dedication of Hemlock students.
The newly formed Hemlock Cheer Team, coached by Mrs. Lennox, brought enthusiasm to the sidelines throughout the game, cheering on the Huskies and helping create the energy that makes high school football such a memorable community experience.
On the field, the Hemlock football team, coached by Mr. Slate, Mr. Zolinski and Mr. Bicigo, competed hard from start to finish. Although the Huskies came up short on the scoreboard, their effort, determination and perseverance were evident throughout the game.
Perhaps the most meaningful part of the evening could be found beyond the field. The Legend Patio was filled with teachers, staff members, students, families and community members who gathered to watch the game, enjoy one another’s company and celebrate their connection to Hemlock. Nearly the entire teaching staff was able to attend, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and shared pride.
“It was a great night for Hemlock High School and an even greater night for the Hemlock community,” said Hemlock High School Principal Keith Green. “What stood out to me most was seeing our teachers, staff, students, families and community members together. It was a great reminder of what is possible when a community comes together with a common purpose and a shared pride in our students.”
Thursday night demonstrated the many ways a school community comes together to support its students. From athletes competing on the field, to musicians and performers entertaining the crowd, to teachers, families and community members filling the stands and Legend Patio, every part of the evening contributed to a shared sense of pride.
While the scoreboard tells one part of the story, the atmosphere throughout the evening told another: Hemlock is stronger when we come together.
Hemlock High School is proud of its students, staff, families and community. Thursday night was a powerful example of the spirit, talent and togetherness that continue to make Hemlock a special place to learn and grow.
