Hemlock High School is proud to spotlight the importance of job fairs in helping students explore real-world career experiences and discover future opportunities. Recently, students attended the MI Career Quest Job Fair at Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU)—a field trip organized by Miss Lennox and Miss Basse. The event provided students with hands-on exposure to dozens of industries, allowing them to interact directly with professionals and employers.

“Students don’t truly know what a career looks like until they’ve seen it first-hand,” said Principal Keith Green. “Opportunities like MI Career Quest bring learning to life. They help our students connect their classroom education to real-world experiences and inspire them to think about their futures in a meaningful way.”

The event featured a wide variety of career paths—from healthcare and manufacturing to technology, public service, and skilled trades. Students participated in interactive exhibits, tried out equipment, and learned about the training and skills needed to succeed in each field.

Hemlock Schools encourages other schools, community leaders, and local businesses to establish partnerships that create similar experiences. These collaborations not only benefit students by expanding their horizons but also help build a strong local employee pipeline to meet the future workforce needs of Michigan industries.

“The job fair gave our students the chance to ask questions, make connections, and see the possibilities that exist right here in our region,” said Miss Lennox. “It’s a powerful reminder that career readiness starts with exposure and opportunity.”
