The Ling Line-Up: Meet Ms. Irene!
This week, we’re shining the spotlight on someone who works tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our school sparkling and our Huskies cared for - Ms. Irene, our Head Custodian! 🧹✨
A lifelong Hemlock Huskie, Ms. Irene grew up and graduated from Hemlock. She has been part of the Hemlock Public Schools family for 19 years, including 12 years as a custodian after previously serving as a paraprofessional.
When she’s not keeping K.C. Ling in tip-top shape, you might find her camping or riding motorcycles with her husband!
Her favorite things include the color blue (us, too, Ms. Irene), Christmas, and Tin Roof ice cream. She also enjoys books by Sager Parker and spending time with her favorite people - her husband, three grown boys, and four grandbabies! 💙
Her favorite part of working at Ling? The kids! And if she weren’t working in education, she says she’d still want to do something involving kids. It’s clear that caring for others is just part of who she is.
Her advice to our Huskies is one we can all carry with us: “Stay true to yourself. Don’t let other kids change you.”
For Ms. Irene, being a Huskie means having pride in everything she does. And we’re certainly proud to have her on our team!
Help us give a big Huskie thank-you to Ms. Irene! 🐾

🐾 THE LING LINE-UP: BRANDAN 🐾
Meet Brandan, one of the friendly faces helping keep K.C. Ling running smoothly every day. As one of our nighttime custodians, Brandan has been part of K.C. Ling for 3 years.
Brandan dubs himself a military "brat" and Air Force veteran, he now calls St. Louis home. He enjoys video games, writing, cooking, and spending weekends at home with his wife, their cat Kinsley, and a good grill session. He’s also a proud owner of a gaming PC, and says his favorite snacks are cheddar & sour cream chips, best enjoyed with a Diet Pepsi, of course!
Brandan says his grandmother, who retired as a school custodian in Ithaca, inspired him to work in education. His favorite part of being at Ling? The teachers and his co-workers. 💙
When he's not keeping our school in tip-top shape, you might find Brandan cheering on the Michigan Wolverines 💙💛, enjoying a little Wheel of Time, watching The Shawshank Redemption, or dreaming about mastering the art of writing. If he weren't working in education, he says he'd choose a career as a truck driver.
His advice to our Huskies is simple and meaningful: Spend as much time with your friends and family as you can.
We're glad you're part of our pack, Brandan! 💙🐾
