The Hemlock Sports Boosters are proud to recognize Mitchell Pitt as the 2026 Volunteer of the Year, honoring his many years of dedicated service to Hemlock Athletics and our student athletes.
The Volunteer of the Year Award is presented annually to a Booster volunteer who has demonstrated long standing commitment and support of Hemlock Schools and its athletic programs. This year, the Boosters are pleased and honored to present that recognition to Mitchell, whose loyalty and behind the scenes dedication have made a lasting impact on Huskie Athletics.
Since graduating from Hemlock in 2012, Mitchell has selflessly dedicated his time to operating the scoreboard and clock at nearly every home high school and middle school volleyball, football, basketball, and baseball contest. In many cases, he covers both levels, as long as schedules do not overlap. Remarkably, Mitchell began running scoreboards even before he graduated, and he has continued ever since. His many years of volunteering are matched by few, while his dedication in giving back is equaled by none.
Mitchell’s reliability and attention to detail help ensure that events run smoothly night after night. His steady presence provides confidence not only to coaches and players, but also to game officials. Head Varsity Football Coach Jamie Slate shared, “Officials are put at ease when they hear Mitchell is running the clock.” Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach added, “Mitchell is amazing. We are lucky to have him. I think he knows the ball is going in before it does. That score is up on the board so quick.”
Director of Athletics Angela Pohl also shared, “As a Director of Athletics, there is nothing more reassuring on game day than knowing someone like Mitchell Pitt is running the scoreboard and clock. His reliability, precision, and calm presence allow our coaches, officials, and student athletes to focus on competing, because they know that critical details are in trusted hands. Mitchell’s commitment to Hemlock Athletics spans well beyond a decade, and his behind the scenes excellence creates the first class experience our programs strive to provide every night. We are incredibly grateful for his loyalty, his professionalism, and the pride he continues to show in serving our Huskies.”
While his work often takes place behind the scenes, it plays a critical role in creating a first class experience for student athletes, coaches, officials, and fans.
