Meet Joe McMillan, a proud parent of a Hemlock Class of 2025 alum and a current junior. Joe’s connection to Hemlock Athletics runs deep through his children’s involvement in a wide range of sports including volleyball, tennis, basketball, football, and baseball. Through those experiences, he has seen firsthand the impact athletics and community support have on student athletes.
Joe shared that his reason for volunteering comes down to community involvement, giving back, and staying engaged. Being present and involved allows him to support not only his own children, but also the broader network of students, families, and volunteers who make Hemlock Athletics what it is.
When asked why he would encourage others to volunteer, Joe offered a thoughtful perspective, saying, “Everyone has 24 hours in a day. Seven days in a week. We all say yes to something, which always determines we say no to something else. We must protect our yes, and spend them wisely. It’s imperative that we determine where we spend our time and our treasure. Sports Boosters is a fantastic opportunity to meet other people, to engage with your fellow community members, and to serve others. It is not necessary to be good at any one thing to be useful.”
Joe’s approach to volunteering centers on intention, connection, and the value of giving time to support others. His involvement helps strengthen the sense of community that surrounds Hemlock Athletics and supports positive experiences for student athletes and families alike.
Those looking to get involved are encouraged to consider volunteering alongside Joe and becoming part of the community that supports Hemlock student athletes. https://www.hemlockps.com/o/athletics/page/volunteer
