Meet Jericho Orange, a junior at Hemlock High School who plays an important role in keeping Huskie basketball games running smoothly. Jericho serves as the bookkeeper and scorekeeper for the Hemlock basketball teams, a position that requires focus, accuracy, and a strong understanding of the game. Sitting right next to the action, he helps ensure that every basket, foul, and timeout is recorded correctly, contributing to a seamless game day experience for players, coaches, and fans.
Jericho shared that one of his favorite parts of volunteering is getting to witness the biggest plays happen just feet away from him and hearing the crowd pop in response. Being so close to the court allows him to feel the excitement and intensity of the game while still playing a vital behind the scenes role. The energy in the gym and the shared excitement from the fans make each game day memorable.
When asked why he would encourage others to volunteer with Hemlock Athletics, Jericho said it gives you the opportunity to see how sports actually work beyond what fans experience in the stands. His involvement highlights how volunteering offers a unique perspective on athletics while allowing students to be part of the action in a meaningful way. Jericho’s commitment and enthusiasm help enhance Huskie basketball game days and showcase the important role student volunteers play in Hemlock Athletics.
