Hemlock Athletics is proud to recognize the Hemlock Sports Boosters, a dedicated group of volunteers who have supported the district’s athletic programs since 1973. The Boosters exist to broaden involvement of students, families, and the community in inter-school athletics, providing critical support for the Huskie Athletic Department and helping create positive experiences for student-athletes.
The Sports Boosters provide vital support at athletic events by organizing volunteers for concessions, ticket sales, 50/50 raffles, chain gang, timers, and other key roles. Requests for these funds are submitted to the Athletic Director and approved by the Boosters to ensure they support the programs and teams that need them most.
Director of Athletics Angela Pohl said, “The Hemlock Sports Boosters are an incredible part of our athletics program. Their dedication and support touch every aspect of our sports programs. We are so grateful for their time, energy, and commitment to our Huskie family.”
The mission of the Sports Boosters is to raise funds to support all athletic programs at the middle and high school levels. Additionally, the Boosters promote attendance, integrity, and sportsmanship at events, and support volunteers. Finally, the Boosters assist the department of Athletics by helping to keep expenses manageable, and ensure that student-athletes have access to safe, up-to-date uniforms and equipment.
The Boosters meet on the third Monday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Hemlock High School Student Center. Meetings are open to anyone interested in the future of Hemlock athletes, and no membership dues are required. These are all volunteers working together to support Huskie student-athletes.
The 2025–2026 board members include:
President: Scott Schafer
Vice President: Noreen Zastrow
Treasurer: John Mulvaney
Secretary: Joy McMillan
Trustees: Joe Burch, Dave Messing, Brandy Premo, Shannon Genow, Sarah Pratt, and Sarah Krueger
One of the most visible ways the Boosters contribute is through concessions at athletic events. Parents and community members are encouraged to get involved in volunteering at Hemlock Athletic Events. The support of parents is critical to the success of the Boosters and the resources they provide to the Athletic Department.
In addition to their work at athletic events, the Sports Boosters host a variety of community events to raise funds and bring people together. One upcoming event is Trivia Night, taking place Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Saginaw Field and Stream, with doors opening at 5:00 PM and trivia starting at 7:00 PM. Volunteering with the Hemlock Sports Boosters not only helps student-athletes and the athletic programs, it provides an opportunity to be involved in the school community, meet other parents with similar interests, and enjoy the rewards of giving back. Everyone is welcome to participate, share ideas, and help continue the proud tradition of Huskie athletics.
