The Hemlock Cross Country program wrapped up an exciting and highly successful 2025 season, showcasing tremendous growth, commitment, and team spirit across both the boys and girls squads.

This season, every athlete made impressive strides, with all runners achieving significant personal records by year’s end. The girls team especially stood out, capturing three team awards, an incredible accomplishment considering last season the team was unable to field a full scoring squad. The Huskies were crowned Eagle Invite Team Champions, finished Runner-Up at the Bill Agresta Invitational, and earned Runner-Up honors at the Alma Devine Invitational.

Several runners also earned TVC League Honors for their outstanding performances:

  • Grady Galbraith – TVC Blue First Team All-Conference

  • Lydia Faubert – Team captain and top girls runner, TVC Blue Second Team All-Conference

  • Kinley Gerow – TVC Blue Second Team All-Conference

  • Zophia Zaleski – TVC Blue Second Team All-Conference

The Huskies also excelled academically, with the following athletes earning TVC Academic Honors (excluding freshmen, as it was their first semester): Lydia Faubert, Lia Hoffman, Katie Fuller, and Adelia Breternitz.

Among the season’s highlights was the emergence of Lia Hoffman, who joined the team after attending one of the early meets with a friend. From her first race, she quickly became a consistent contributor, finishing with multiple personal bests and earning a place among the team’s top five runners.

Coach Coblentz highlighted the incredible team culture that developed throughout the year, noting, “This has been the best XC team I have been a part of over my coaching career. The hard work and dedication that has gone into the season showed.”

The girls’ team tripled in size from last year, while both the middle school and elementary running programs continued to thrive, a sign of a bright future for Hemlock Cross Country. The team adopted the motto “Attitude Is Everything”, a mindset that guided them through a season full of laughter, perseverance, and growth.

A new highlight this year was the team’s first-ever cross country camp, which proved to be a major success and will become an annual tradition moving forward.

Looking ahead, the Huskies will set their sights on another strong year, building on this season’s accomplishments. The team will graduate three seniors, two girls and one boy, whose impact will be greatly missed. However, nearly all runners are returning, and both teams will gain talented new additions from the middle school program.

“This was a season of growth not only for our team and overall numbers but also for all our athletes individually,” said Coach Coblentz. “Our runners learned how much hard work, summer miles, and consistent training can impact their season and individual performances.”

Special thanks were extended to the Hemlock families and volunteers who helped coordinate and run the team’s two home meets, as well as to the Hemlock School District and Mr. Green for preparing the cross country course. Appreciation also went to the Jaremba, Rivette, and Galbraith families for providing team dinners, photos, and medal donations, contributions that helped make the season special and memorable for the athletes.

Finally, the program recognized Coach Bebow and Coach Ward for their dedication to the middle school and elementary cross country programs, which continue to play a vital role in developing young runners and building the future of Hemlock Cross Country.
