Hemlock, MI - Ethel Ida Hoffman was a kindergarten teacher for Hemlock Elementary School for 29-years, who passed away in December of 2021. Hemlock Elementary Library received a generous donation to be used for books in her memory. This was very near and dear to our elementary librarian, Megan Scott's heart because believe it or not, Mrs. Hoffman was her very own kindergarten teacher years ago.

"When I received the notice about the donation for Mrs. Hoffman, I couldn’t help but think how full circle this experience was.  Since Mrs. Hoffman was my kindergarten teacher, she was the one who taught me how to read all those years ago.  She inspired me to read and challenged me to try harder books to advance my reading skills. She sparked my love for reading books, and now here today, I get to read these beautiful books in her name to students who are coming though the same doors and building where she taught all those years.  And because of her teaching, I can read those stories to students when they come to library and they can check out these books to spark their interest in reading and love these books," shared Mrs. Scott.

The books chosen were to honor her love of skiing, as she was a member of the National Ski Patrol. The books will be available for students to check out at Hemlock Elementary Library.
