Here at the Hemlock Middle School, we strive to teach our students to become a better version of themselves in all aspects of life.

We are using the Next Gen Personal Finance curriculum that has been great in developing vocabulary pertaining to students’ financial futures.

Some of the topics the 6th-8th graders have gone over thus far are budgeting, exploring savings and credit, understanding taxes, online banking, filing forms for employment, researching colleges and their tuition rates, among many others.

“There are many times when looking through the curriculum that I feel like I am learning with the students,“ says Jeremy Stedry, the current teacher for all personal finance classes.

Ashley Helmer, the students' ELA teacher has also noticed the impact, “I’ve seen the students in action and it’s wonderful to see them learning such an important life skill at this age."
