Hemlock, MI- Hemlock Public School District launched an Early Childhood Center in 2014 and has worked to expand and develop the program to best meet the needs of parents and children. The program recently received the highest rating possible of 5 Stars from Great Start to Quality, Michigan's quality rating and improvement system (QRIS). 

Principal Lori Gensch said, “We are devoted to providing the highest quality of care for our Huskie families.  This rating is a reflection of the true dedication of our staff to provide a safe, warm, and welcoming setting as soon as you walk through the doors.” 

The Early Childhood Center is home to the district’s preschool and childcare programming that serves infant children all the way up to 12 years of age. The program directors are Megan Bedford (preschool) and Abby King (childcare) both of whom have a wealth of experience working in early childhood and strong educational backgrounds with advanced degrees. 

Dr. Don Killingbeck, Superintendent said, “This rating is a reflection on the dedication, hard work of our staff and program leadership. Their focus on serving children and their families is second to none.” 

The program builds a foundation for children and helps them to develop a love for learning.The staff continues to maintain and value a strong relationship with the children and their families as they pursue their educational experience at Hemlock Public School District.
