With Election Day approaching, Hemlock Public School District is concluding its voter information campaign by encouraging residents to stay informed and participate in the upcoming election.
Over the past several weeks, the district has shared factual information about the two renewal proposals that will appear on the November ballot, including how Michigan's school funding system works, the purpose of the non-homestead operating millage renewal, the proposed tax-neutral bond renewal, and answers to frequently asked questions from community members.
District officials say the goal throughout the information campaign has been to provide clear, accurate information so voters understand what each proposal is, how it functions, and the role each plays within the district's overall funding structure.
"We appreciate the time community members have taken to ask questions, review the information, and learn more about the proposals," Superintendent Don Killingbeck said. "An informed community is essential to the election process, and we encourage residents to make use of the information available as they prepare to vote."
The November 3 ballot includes two separate renewal proposals:
The renewal of the district's non-homestead operating millage, which is required under Michigan's school funding system and applies to commercial, industrial, rental, and other non-homestead properties.
A tax-neutral bond renewal that, if approved, would support facility and site improvements, including projects related to school safety and security, additional classroom space, and campus connectivity.
Residents are encouraged to review the available election materials and familiarize themselves with the proposals before Election Day.
