For more than 50 years, Hemlock Public School District has welcomed the senior citizens of our community to our annual Senior Citizen Thanksgiving Dinner. What started as a simple way to say thank you has grown into one of our favorite and largest community traditions.
This fall, more than 300 of our special friends will once again gather around the table for turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, dessert, entertainment, plenty of laughs, and LOTS of prizes.
And we need your help making it special!
Throughout the year, Hemlock hosts a number of events specifically for our senior citizens. We have our Senior Citizen Thanksgiving Dinner, two Senior Citizen Bingo events, the Hemlock Community Pep Club Spring Brunch, and this year, four special Senior Citizen Movie Days in our new Performing Arts Center.
Our first movie is coming up Tuesday, September 15th at 1:00 PM, when we'll show Grease on the big screen (even if we aren't fully ready to open the PAC).
These events are about much more than food, movies, bingo, or prizes. They are about relationships. They keep our seniors connected to their schools, our students, and the community they helped build.
The Thanksgiving Dinner alone includes hundreds of guests, student servers, entertainment, a local celebrity emcee, and a whole lot of giveaways. We work with local businesses, organizations, families, and friends to find sponsors and collect gift cards, gift baskets, merchandise, certificates, and other fun prizes to give away throughout these events.
Want to help us spoil our seniors?
We would LOVE donations of prizes, gift cards, merchandise, or financial support. No donation is too small. We'll put it to good use making someone's day a little brighter.
Give us a call at 989.642.5282 or stop by the Hemlock Public School District Administration Office at 1095 N. Hemlock Road to drop something off or learn about sponsorship opportunities.
And if you're a Hemlock-area senior citizen who isn't already receiving our invitations, give us a call and we'll help get you connected to our senior citizen mailing list.
Our seniors have supported Hemlock for generations. These events are one small way we get to return the favor.
55 years of saying thank you, and we're just getting started.
