Meet Michael Piwowarski, a lifelong Hemlock resident, REALTOR®, content creator, coffee enthusiast, and one of the community's biggest cheerleaders.
Michael likes to joke that although he was born at the hospital in Midland, he's been a Hemlock kid his entire life. His parents have called Hemlock home since before he was born, and so has he.
After graduating from Central Michigan University in 2022 with a bachelor's degree in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts and a minor in Journalism, Michael expected his career would follow a path in media. Instead, on a whim, he enrolled in Michigan's real estate salesperson course, passed the state licensing exam on his first attempt in January 2023, and launched a career in real estate.
It didn't take long to realize he had found the right fit.
Today, Michael is a REALTOR® with Century 21 Signature Realty, helping families throughout the Hemlock and greater Saginaw area navigate one of the biggest decisions of their lives.
"It's never about scoring commission checks for me," he says. "It's about helping people with the most important investment they'll ever make."
That mindset has shaped the way he approaches both business and life.
One of his mentors, who also happens to be a Hemlock native, shared two pieces of advice that continue to guide him every day: "People don't care what you know until they know you care," and "You take care of God's people while He takes care of you."
Those simple words have become the foundation of Michael's business philosophy.
His career has steadily gained momentum. After joining Century 21 Signature Realty in 2025, he experienced his strongest year yet, helping more local buyers and sellers while surpassing $1 million in sales volume during the first half of 2026. Along the way, he was honored as the 2025 Hemlock Business Association Member of the Year, an award that reflected not only his professional success, but also his commitment to the community.
Michael's passion for supporting local businesses extends well beyond real estate.
In 2025, he began creating food and coffee review videos highlighting local restaurants, cafés, and small businesses throughout the region. Those videos quickly earned him a loyal following on TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram, where many now recognize him simply as "the guy on TikTok."
Ironically, he once resisted joining the platform altogether.
Today, he's grateful that taking a chance on content creation has given him another way to celebrate the businesses and people that make this community special.
Ask Michael what Hemlock means to him, and his answer comes from an unexpected place.
"It's my own Radiator Springs."
The reference to Pixar's Cars makes perfect sense when he explains it.
"Radiator Springs is a place where everyone looks out for each other. Success is never a one-man show. You have to surround yourself with good people, build meaningful relationships, support others, and remember the community that helped you get where you are."
That philosophy has become a guiding principle—not only in his business, but in the way he chooses to live.
When he's not showing homes or creating videos, you'll probably find Michael with a cup of coffee in hand. In fact, he jokes that coffee sometimes helps him sleep. He's also an avid collector of classic vinyl records, with Styx and Fleetwood Mac topping the soundtrack of his life.
For Michael, Hemlock isn't simply the place where he grew up.
It's the place that continues to shape who he is—and the community he's proud to serve every single day.
