Matt Wesener is a proud Hemlock alumnus from the Class of 1989 and a lifelong supporter of public education. Alongside his wife, Melissa, Matt has raised two sons in the district—Cole (Class of 2024) and Tanner (Class of 2025)—giving him both a personal and professional connection to Hemlock Public School District.
Elected to the Board of Education in 2012, Matt has spent more than a decade helping guide the district through periods of growth, innovation, and fiscal stewardship. He is especially proud of how the district’s leadership and staff have expanded opportunities for students while strengthening long-term financial stability. With strong community and business support, visionary projects like the Lockwood STEM Center have moved from idea to reality—creating hands-on, future-focused learning experiences for students.
Matt’s background includes service in the United States Air Force and earning a Bachelor of Science in Management. His career in technology and leadership has shaped his strategic mindset, but his greatest fulfillment comes from giving back—whether through board service, youth coaching, or community initiatives like Hemlock Strong. In an ever-changing educational landscape, Matt consistently emphasizes his appreciation for school employees who go above and beyond to ensure students are safe, supported, and prepared for what comes next.
He is also quick to credit the broader community, offering a heartfelt “thank you” to residents and local businesses whose trust and partnership make Hemlock’s progress possible.
