Today, September 4th, 2025, Hemlock Public School District proudly celebrated the official Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening of Kunold Courts—a lasting tribute to the legacy of longtime educator and coach, Ronald Kunold.
Ron Kunold dedicated 28 years to Hemlock Schools, shaping lives both in the classroom and on the tennis courts. As a teacher, he inspired students with his passion for learning and commitment to their growth. As a coach, he led with integrity and heart, spending 21 years instilling values of discipline, sportsmanship, and respect in his players.
Under Coach Kunold’s leadership, Hemlock’s tennis program flourished, earning statewide recognition with multiple top-10 finishes—including 5th-place rankings in 1993 and 1997. But Ron’s true legacy reached far beyond rankings. He built a culture of excellence and camaraderie, earning admiration from opponents and respect across the tennis community. In 1991, he was named Coach of the Year by the Michigan High School Tennis Coaches Association—a fitting honor for a man who led with humility and passion.
Ron was also known for going the extra mile, personally caring for the tennis courts so his athletes had a place they could take pride in. Today, those courts now bear his name—a reflection of a legacy etched into the hearts of Huskies past and present.
This afternoon's celebration was not only the unveiling of Kunold Courts but a heartfelt reminder of Coach Kunold’s lifelong impact on our students, our athletics, and our community.
