The Hemlock Public School District is proud to announce the induction of Bob Kilgore, Class of 1972, into the Hemlock Hall of Fame in the Special Contributor category. Kilgore’s remarkable impact on the district and the greater Hemlock community spans more than four decades and reflects a life devoted to service, mentorship, and Huskie pride.
“Bob Kilgore exemplifies the spirit of what it means to be a Huskie,” said Superintendent Don Killingbeck. “His commitment to students, his tireless service to our schools, and his leadership in athletics have left a permanent mark on this district. He is the kind of person who built Hemlock—one kind deed, one game, one relationship at a time.”
Bob Kilgore faithfully served the district as a custodian for 40 years. With quiet dedication and unwavering consistency, he became a steady and trusted presence in the daily life of Hemlock schools. However, it was his work outside of his custodial duties that left an even deeper impression on generations of students, athletes, and families.
Over the course of more than 20 years, Kilgore coached football and baseball, mentoring hundreds of student-athletes. His influence on the field extended beyond wins and losses—he was known for developing strong character, promoting teamwork, and helping young people become better versions of themselves.
In addition to his coaching legacy, Kilgore was a founding member of Hemlock’s youth basketball program, helping launch what has become a vital pipeline for local athletes. His passion for youth development laid the foundation for a thriving sports community that continues to benefit students and families today.
Board of Education President Matt Wesener added, “There are few people who have done more for this community without ever asking for recognition. Bob’s legacy is woven into the very fabric of Hemlock. We are honored to induct him into the Hall of Fame as a symbol of our deep gratitude.”
His son, Bobby Kilgore, shared, “Our family is overwhelmed with appreciation. My dad never did what he did for awards—he just loved this town, loved the kids, and believed in giving his best every single day. This honor means so much to all of us.”
Bob Kilgore’s induction into the Hemlock Hall of Fame will be formally recognized during halftime of the Hemlock varsity football game at Wallace Field on September 12th, 2025. His story stands as a testament to the power of humble service and a life lived in dedication to others.
