Hemlock Public School District is collaborating with MICHauto, a champion for automotive and mobility innovation, to provide in-school STEM curriculum and hands-on labs in Saginaw County through the Lockwood STEM Center. Funded by a grant from Michigan‘s Office of Future Mobility and Electrification, this partnership will promote career and educational pathways in in-demand STEM fields for mid-Michigan students.

Through the grant from the Office of Future Mobility and Electrification, MICHauto has pledged $150,000 toward the expansion of the Lockwood STEM Center, positioning it as a Regional STEM Pilot. This project will extend the reach and impact of STEM education, making it more accessible and engaging for a larger number of students. The funding will also support the development of a state-of-the-art STEM curriculum and expert consulting services. This comprehensive support package is instrumental in shaping a learning environment conducive to education, innovation, and technological advancement.

"This generous support from the State of Michigan and MICHauto marks a new era for our STEM education initiatives. It empowers us to build a future where our students are not just learners but innovators and leaders in technology," said Hemlock Public School District Board President Matt Wesener.

The partnership with MICHauto, enabled by the Office of Future Mobility and Electrification’s investment, is a testament to the importance of collaborative efforts in enhancing educational opportunities and fostering the development of future technology leaders.

"With this collaboration, we are not just expanding a center; we are nurturing a new generation of high-tech talent. This investment goes beyond infrastructure – it's an investment in our children’s future and the technological prowess of our region," said Superintendent Don Killingbeck.

Hemlock Public School District is proud to be a part of projects that bolster the high-tech talent pipeline’s growth in Michigan. The expanded Lockwood STEM Center and enriched curriculum are set to kindle a passion for science and technology among students, preparing them for the digital challenges and opportunities ahead.
