KCL Ground Break

In a significant move towards enhancing the student experience and facilities, the Hemlock Public School District is thrilled to announce the commencement of construction on a new gymnasium addition at K.C. Ling Elementary. The groundwork recently began, marking a pivotal moment in the evolution of the school's infrastructure.

The advanced gymnasium is designed to provide a competition-level playing surface, specifically catering to the physical education needs of K.C. Ling Elementary students. This project aligns with the district's commitment to investing in facilities that bolster a comprehensive learning journey for our students.

"As we progress with the construction, we're not merely building a space for physical activities; we're fostering an environment where our students can maximize their potential, integrate sportsmanship, and cultivate crucial life skills," shares Board President Matt Wesener.

The previously existing gymnasium, smaller and non-competition standard in size, has undergone a transformation. Ingeniously designed connecting garage doors will enable this space to serve as an overflow cafeteria, facilitating a smooth interface between dining and recreational areas. Moreover, it promises to be an ideal venue for indoor recess activities, allowing students to engage and play irrespective of external weather constraints, and can still be utilized as a recreational gymnasium for youth sports and physical education classes when needed.

One of the major reliefs brought about by the new addition is the resolution of prior gym scheduling challenges. The enhanced facility will facilitate a broader spectrum of activities, ensuring more flexible scheduling and reduced logistical constraints.

"This is not just about a new gymnasium. It's about reimagining spaces for our students, ensuring they have the facilities they deserve, and maximizing the utilization of every square foot of our infrastructure to benefit both our students and staff," elaborates Superintendent Don Killingbeck.

While the groundbreaking phase has been celebrated, the Hemlock Public School District eagerly looks forward to the community joining them for the ribbon-cutting ceremony upon the gymnasium's completion.
