Hemlock, MI - Hemlock Public School District and Delta Community College joined forces in the fall of 2014 to introduce the transformative Hemlock High School Early Middle College program. This innovative initiative offers students a unique opportunity to engage in college-level coursework while still enjoying the traditional high school experience.

The program, designed to provide students with a taste of college rigor and courses, aims to seamlessly integrate higher education into the high school curriculum. Principal Keith Green expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Through Hemlock High School Early Middle College, students can explore advanced academic challenges without sacrificing the familiar high school environment."

During their junior and senior years, students attend courses instructed by college professors either face-to-face or online. In their 5th year, they have the chance to experience college life firsthand by attending classes on the college campus. Dean of Students Kyle Boros emphasized the benefits, saying, "This program enables students to access college-level education and develop critical skills that will prepare them for future success."

Since its inception, Hemlock High School Early Middle College has served a significant number of students, granting them access to over 3000 college credits at no cost to parents and students. In an era of escalating post-secondary expenses, this program provides students with a head start on their college education, equipping them with valuable knowledge and skills without incurring the burden of student loan debt.

Superintendent Don Killingbeck expressed gratitude for the incredible opportunity this program offers to students and families, remarking, "We are privileged to provide such an outstanding opportunity that benefits our students and their families. To date, we have saved students and families hundreds of thousands of dollars."
