Over the past half-century, three remarkable organizations in the Great Lakes Bay Region, Hemlock Public School District, DuPont, and Hemlock Semiconductor (HSC), have forged a strong partnership dedicated to supporting and investing in the education and future of Hemlock Public School District students and their communities. This long-standing collaboration has laid the foundation for generational opportunities, fostering collaboration and creating a brighter future for Hemlock students.

The Partnership, initially established to better serve students and families, has endured and grown stronger despite name changes, ownership transitions, and shifts in leadership. As we commemorate the 50th anniversary of this innovative alliance, we envision an even more promising future, marked by increased investment in Hemlock students and their aspirations.

"The lasting nature of this partnership is a testament to the alignment of industry and education, both working together towards a common goal," stated Mike Huston, representative of HSC. "Hemlock Public School District provides state-of-the-art learning opportunities, which in turn offers HSC an exceptional pool of potential employees, whether they come straight from high school or through our collaborations with colleges and universities."

Year after year, the Partnership supports Hemlock students through various programs, including the National Honor Society, band camp, field trips, and career activities. These initiatives provide approximately $25,000 in additional student programming that the school district may not have been able to afford otherwise. The Partnership's contributions also extend to employee appreciation events such as an annual tailgate and years of service awards.

One noteworthy investment is the Lockwood STEM Center, a community facility designed to inspire students' interests in math, science, and robotics. Serving as a venue for FIRST robotics competitions, the Lockwood STEM Center offers hands-on exposure to fields that students may not have otherwise explored.

According to Matt Wesener, President of the Hemlock Board of Education, "The endurance of this partnership over 50 years is no coincidence. When we look at the programs they have invested in, the students they have supported, and the lives they have impacted, it is evident that this is a program with a lasting legacy."

The Partnership remains committed to its ongoing growth, aiming for a record-setting 50th year of investment in educational improvement efforts.
