Images of a RE/MAX branded hot air balloon and elementary school children crowded around hot air balloon equipment.

Students at Hemlock Elementary and K.C. Ling Elementary were treated to a larger-than-life hot air balloon lesson and demonstration earlier this week, thanks to the generosity of Dave Wieland from RE/MAX and Michigan Hot Air Adventures.

Under the guidance of experienced air balloon pilot Dennis Hall, the students were immersed in a captivating exploration of the history and science behind hot air balloons. Hall skillfully engaged the students, answering their questions and sparking their curiosity. Witnessing the inflation of the giant balloon added to the excitement, and soon Superintendent Killingbeck and Principal Gensch, and a few lucky students, enjoyed a short tethered balloon flight, creating unforgettable memories.

The Hot Air Adventures team showcased their expertise, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of the flights. As the balloon gently descended for the final time, prizes were distributed to one randomly-selected student from each class, adding an extra layer of delight to the experience.

"We’d like to thank Dave from Team Wieland RE/MAX for providing an opportunity for our students where real life and science converge", noted Superintendent Killingbeck.

This educational and awe-inspiring encounter served as a powerful reminder of the value of getting outside the four walls of the school for hands-on learning experiences, bridging the gap between classroom education and practical application.
