Fieldhouse

The Hemlock Public School District is thrilled to announce the receipt of a $1,000,000 grant to foster youth health and activity through the construction of a new, year-round fieldhouse. This significant investment is part of the recent community project funding secured by Congressman Dan Kildee and has been officially signed into law as part of the Fiscal Year 2024 government funding.

Dr. Don Killingbeck, Superintendent of Hemlock Public School District, expressed his gratitude and optimism regarding the new development: “I want to thank Congressman Kildee for his efforts to get our Community Project Funding signed into law. This funding will provide our youth with the opportunity to be active year-round and will be instrumental in increasing health outcomes for this generation and generations to follow”.

The fieldhouse, a visionary project for the Hemlock Public School District, is designed to serve as a hub for various athletic and wellness activities. It will offer students and the community access to indoor sports facilities and health-oriented programs, regardless of the season.

Board President of Hemlock Public School District Matt Wesener also expressed enthusiasm: “This grant is a game-changer for our community. It reflects our commitment to not only educate but also ensure the physical well-being of our students. We believe this new facility will become a cornerstone of our community, nurturing a healthier, more active, and engaged youth population.”

Congressman Dan Kildee’s efforts in securing a total of $16,861,783 for 15 local community projects underline his commitment to the growth and development of mid-Michigan. The range of projects funded includes economic development, workforce training, public safety, and much more, aiming to significantly impact the community’s quality of life.

The Hemlock Public School District is proud to be a part of this transformative initiative. It is eager to commence the development of the field house, which is anticipated to play a vital role in uplifting the community’s health and economic vibrancy.
