Hemlock, MI- For the fifth consecutive year, Hemlock Elementary and K.C. Ling Elementary recognizes Leaders of the Pack each month. Students are selected by their teachers for displaying positive behavior, exceptional leadership skills, and kindness and respect towards staff and fellow students. Along with this honor, students are presented with a Leader of the Pack shirt that is re-designed each year.
The purchase of these shirts is made possible through the enduring tradition of a business-education partnership between Hemlock Semiconductor, Hemlock Industrial Medical Supplies (DuPont), and the district for over 50 years. This partnership supports and enhances the educational experience of students with a leadership group meeting quarterly from each organization.
“The Leader of the Pack shirts are just one example of the countless ways this partnership works to ensure students receive the recognition and resources they deserve to keep us pulling the sled,” shared Principal Lori Gensch. Students strive to hear their name announced each month as their classroom representative.
Our Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) system encourages students to Practice safety, Accept responsibility, Work together, and Show respect (PAWS) . It’s always exciting to be able to honor students who display positive behavior. Recognizing students for what they are doing well, is a top priority in our schools. Honoring a new group of Leaders of the Pack each more is another way for us to recognize those that go above and beyond the expectations laid out for them.
Dean of Students, Erica VanAlst, added “The ability to reward students for demonstrating leadership skills at such an early age is vitally important in creating successful students from cradle to college at Hemlock Public School District.”
