David Messing

David Messing

David is active as a youth coach, member of Sports Boosters, Hemlock Pep Club, and more. His wife Sue is a science teacher for Montrose Public School District. David is the proud father of three Hemlock Huskie, Alexis, a graduate from the class of 2018, is studying to be a teacher, Marissa from the class of 2021 who is majoring in engineering at Michigan Tech, and Gabe who is part of the graduating class of 2026. Messing was attracted to our agricultural community in part because of his childhood. He graduated from Carsonville-Port Sanilac Schools in 1988 and went on to pursue a degree in Marketing and graduate from Central Michigan University in 1993.

David serves as a board of education member because he enjoys the energy and difference he makes as a board member. He brings a strong business sense, people focus, and promotion of the school system and community with him to his service on the board. He feels these things are important as he helps navigate the district. The greatest challenge of our school and others schools today is the conflict between resources and needs/wants that occurs as we balance our human resources with our facility and material needs.

In his own words, the mission and vision of the school district are the best quality of education and experience possible. He is most proud of how big things happen in our small school. Our facilities are clean as possible; we have a strong identity and a focus on the future.
