Hemlock, MI - It’s a drone! It’s a robot! It’s a t-shirt flying through the air! Learning has never been more fun than at the state of the art Lockwood STEM Center. Students, staff, and community members are loving the new opportunities at this facility. The STEM Center will also be utilized by students from other schools including Merrill, Swan Valley, St. Charles, and Freeland.

Ben Lockwood, student at Hemlock High School says, “The STEM Center is a place to collaborate and enjoy a positive experience after school.”

Laughter and learning go hand in hand as students experience a wide variety of learning opportunities. Walking into the STEM Center could be compared to a “choose your own adventure book”. Depending on which station you stop at, you will learn programming, machining, graphic design, etc. This may sound intimidating at first, but all ages will feel welcome whether you are flying a drone with an iPad or driving a 130 lb robot.

According to Chris Bale, a mentor of Hemlock’s Gray Matter robotics team , “It’s some of the hardest fun you’ll ever have.”

The Lockwood STEM Center is made possible by excellent sponsors and adult mentors. If you would like to get involved, please visit hemlockstemcenter.org or contact Tom Lockwood by email: lockwood@hemlockps.com
