Hemlock, MI – The Hemlock Board of Education unanimously voted to name the space that hosts the district’s black box theatre and outdoor patio at Hemlock Middle School the Judy Turner Black Box Theatre. The district will host a grand opening event for the Judy Turner Black Box Theatre on Wednesday, September 1st at 5:30 PM on the South Side of Hemlock Middle School located at 525 N. Maple St.

Board President Matt Wesener said, “We are incredibly proud to have the opportunity to recognize the tremendous contributions that Judy Turner has made to Hemlock Schools.  Without the significant time and effort invested by fantastic people like Judy we would certainly not be where we are today.”

The Judy Turner Black Box Theatre is a modern, multifunctional space providing many options for use, such as dramatic performance, class presentation, aerobic fitness, and so much more. The space has already been used several times by classes, even hosting a career speaker virtually from Google.

Dr. Don Killingbeck, Superintendent said, “Judy Turner is a natural educator, working in the field for over 40 years. She has provided instruction in the classroom, leadership at buildings, and helped to guide and shape instructional K-12 curriculum. Her professionalism, know-how, dedication, and passion have not gone unnoticed.
