Senior

Hemlock, MI- In the wake of the pandemic, Hemlock Public School District recognizes that there may be a different kind of senior than we are usually focused on that may need some of our attention. Covid-19 left many senior citizens disconnected and isolated from others.

“As a school district we want to reconnect and engage our senior citizens and it is even more important now than ever before,” said Superintendent, Dr. Don Killingbeck.

The district has a series of events on the calendar for the 2021-2022 school year.

  • September 15, 2021 Lockwood STEM Center, Lunch and Learn at 11 AM
  • November 12, 2021 HMS, Fiftieth Annual Thanksgiving Dinner at 1 PM
  • January 19, 2021 Judy Turner Black Box Theatre at HMS Lunch and Learn at 11 AM
  • March 16, 2021 Literacy Month at KC Ling Library, Lunch and Learn at 11 AM
  • May 18, 2021 Pickleball at HMS, Lunch and Learn at 11 AM

These events are for senior citizens age 55 or older that reside within the Hemlock Public School District. There is limited space available, so it is encouraged that people register in advance.

Superintendent, Dr. Don Killingbeck, said “ I have said it before but it’s worth repeating, things depreciate, but people  when invested in pay dividends, help improve our school system, our culture, and promote a better learning environment for students.”

As a school and community it is important that we rekindle our connection with those that have a few more years of wisdom to share than us as we lean into a more normal school year this fall.
