L-R: HEMLOCK VARSITY BASKETBALL PLAYERS-Austin Hickey, Dawson Murphy, and Luke Liebrock
The Hemlock High School boys’ and girls’ basketball programs hosted their annual golf outing at Valley View Farms Golf Course in Saginaw. The event was a success as twenty-seven teams enjoyed some golf, perfect weather, and fellowship throughout the day. The teams at the outing consisted of former and current players, coaches, community members, as well as parents and relatives. The participants ranged from avid golfers to hackers just trying to enjoy a day out while supporting our basketball programs. Not only was a great time had by all, but it was also one of our most profitable basketball golf outings ever.
The winning team of Bob Fiting, Brandon Fiting, Mike Mueller, and Zach Turner shot a 15 under par score of 57. Second place went to Jeremy Doan, Rudy McKibbin, Frank Guerrero, and Rick Johnson with a score of 58. Dave McDonald was the winner of the longest drive contest for the men while Katie Ryder won the same honor for the women. Mike Mueller won the award for the closest to the pin, and Justin Vondette won the Jeremy Buxman Putting Contest.
Matt Bauer said, “Thanks to the many sponsors and participants, the boys’ and girls’ basketball programs were able to raise funds necessary to enhance the experience of playing basketball at Hemlock High School. The money will be used for basketball supplies, team camp entry fees, team apparel for the 2017-2018 season, and additional expenses for team functions.”
Both coaches would like to thank all of the golfers who participated in the outing, including the basketball players, coaches, and volunteers who helped to run and organize the outing. In addition, we’d like to give special thank you to the sponsors and prize contributors who made it possible to run a successful outing.
Thank you for helping to make the event a success! We know that our teams will enjoy the benefits of your generosity!
