Letter From The Principal

Welcome to Hemlock Middle School!  We welcome the opportunity to partner with you.  HMS is a special place for students to learn and grow from childhood to adolescence, from elementary to high school. I believe in our mission and dedicate myself to creating an environment that is safe, secure and that nurtures the whole child at this critical time in their development.

We have caring certified and classified staff members who are committed to helping your sons and/or daughters achieve to their fullest potential. Our staff has much experience, training and expertise in helping our students grow and succeed. Our goal is to work together with you to jointly nurture a love of learning in the children who attend HMS.

Education and safety receive the highest priority in all that we do and in our school community. We strive to implement best practices, integrating social and academic learning in every aspect of the school day. By teaching and reinforcing expectations, routines and our school rules, we believe students can best focus on their most important job of learning.

I encourage parents and students to become actively involved in the school. There is a wide array of activities, clubs, and athletic teams available to join and in which to participate. This is a great time to explore and grow. Students will discover new friends, new skills and new interests. I want your child to experience an exciting school year at HMS.

Please refer to the student handbook located on this website to assist you during the school year whenever questions arise regarding policies, procedures, the code of conduct, and activities. If you have any concerns, do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher, counselor, or me.  I am looking forward to working with you and your child during the coming school year.

We strongly believe that children are most successful when parents are involved in their child’s/children’s education. We hope that through the combined efforts of home and school, your child will thirst for knowledge, skills and learning. We welcome your support and engagement and anticipate building upon your success as the initial educator as we help our students get ready for high school and beyond.

Sincerely,

Terry Keyser, Principal
