Hemlock Middle School newly established Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) group is off to a great start this year.  The group, led by PTO President, Julie Reidsma, and supported by members Kristin Fowler, Sarah Lapierre, Lisa Little, Angie Trinklein, and Ann Seidel organized a Trail of Terror Halloween Walk this fall, and are now planning a Family Christmas Movie Night in December.  They are actively raising money each week for projects to benefit the middle school students and staff.

Principal Terry Keyser shared, “Having an active PTO group has been a very positive thing for our middle school in getting parents involved and more familiar with the needs of the students and staff while having fun along the way.  This is a fun group and they have great ideas.”

PTO President Reidsma said, “The PTO values every single student in the middle school.  Providing fun activities for them to do together not only allows them to grow closer, but allows us to get to know them and their needs as well.”

Anne Seidel, PTO member says, “The PTO is a great opportunity for parents to get involved in their children’s schools.  We all support our own children as best we can, but as a group, we can reach beyond that and have a much greater effect.  Bringing students and parents together at PTO-sponsored events simply strengthens our Huskie community!”

The Hemlock Middle School PTO group welcomes new members at any time.  The next PTO meeting is Monday, December 9 at 6:00 PM in the HMS library.  Please join us in planning for a fun December movie night later that week!
