Hemlock, MI - Hemlock High School Culinary Arts class gives back to the community by “baking-for-a-purpose” in where they provided 200 delicious desserts to the Saginaw Rescue Mission. The treats were made for a function that promoted the needs of the rescue mission.

The Saginaw Rescue Mission is a valuable resource in the Saginaw community, which provides needs to those who are struggling and less fortunate than others.

The culinary class made 100 mini chickadee cupcakes with a decadent cream cheese icing, and 100 chocolate brownies topped with ganache for the event. The class teaches the art of cooking and the art of presentation in their final product. More importantly, it teaches students to use their cooking and baking abilities to share and bring joy to others.

“Teaching our students to not only be leaders, but servants in our community is a very important life lesson. The work of the Saginaw Rescue Mission is undoubtedly valuable to the Saginaw community, and I’m so proud of our students who put their knowledge and skills to action to help others,” shared Principal Green.

Saginaw Rescue Mission Vision: Compelled by the love of God to equip the hurting and homeless of Mid-Michigan through guidance and godly care that leads our guests toward God-honoring, sustainable solutions, and permanent housing.
