Shawnie Bremer

Terry Keyser has nominated Shawnie Bremer as our Staff Recognition Highlight this week.

Shawnie Bremer teacher 5th-grade social studies, language arts, reading and STEAM classes at Hemlock Middle school.  Her family includes husband, Bret, and sons Sam-23 and Ben-18. 

Mrs. Bremer had an interesting summer.  She rescued a dog in the spring, only to find out later that the dog was pregnant, eventually delivering 11 puppies, which created an eventful few weeks for her family.  

Shawnie earned her Master’s degree at SVSU and likes to spend her spare time reading (her favorite book is Catcher in the Rye, vacationing at her cottage up north and cooking.  Her favorite quote is, “If you can’t be kind, be quiet”.  Mrs. Bremer’s all-time favorite places visited is Los Angeles and Indian River, where her family vacations.  

Mrs. Bremer loves teaching, saying she is proudest of her students when they begin to reach their personal and academic goals.  She believes in her students’ potential and strives to be consistent and decisive with them while adapting to their varying needs.  She strives to be flexible, create a sense of community and inclusion in her classroom while maintaining high expectations for her students’ learning.
