CHILDCARE REMODELED

Hemlock Childcare Center Remodeled for

Board Members Cutting A Ribbon

Hemlock Board of Education cut the ribbon on our newly remodeled infant and toddler childcare program rooms.

Early Childhood Director, Wendy Plewa said, "We feel so fortunate to have these beautifully remodeled rooms to care for our littlest Huskie children. A lot of thought, care and research went into the design and aesthetics’ of each of the rooms. A huge shout out to RaeAnn Woodcock, High School Art Teacher, and her extraordinary student team! They transformed the walls in each room to create the coolest nature scenes ever! I love walking into those rooms daily and observing the infants and toddlers playing, laughing, learning, and growing!”

As Hemlock Public Schools prepare for future enrollment, the childcare center helps the need for working parents in the area. This is just another example of how Hemlock continues to improve and expand opportunities for children and families.

The Early Childhood programs, which include, infant and toddler care, childcare, 3 and 4-year-old preschool, and Champ Camp AM and PM care, are all in high demand. Some programs have a waiting list.

Board of Education President Dr. Ellison noted, “Hemlock's childcare is a great program that fills the gap between birth and kindergarten--helping children develop and learn in an educational environment they can grow up in."

    CAUSE FOR APPLAUSE 3/22/2017

Hemlock Public School District Board of Education regularly honors individuals or groups for outstanding work and/or contributions to student success. This past month was no different. The Board of Education honored Early Childhood Director Wendy Plewa, Lead Care-Giver Abby King, and Lead Infant Care-Giver Amanda Cobb at their regular March meeting.

Parent, Rick Crofoot nominated Plewa and the preschool and childcare programs noting the outstanding education, support, and care his child receives.

The Preschool and Childcare programs have been growing and contribute to the mission and vision of the district while providing exceptional service to families.

Wendy Plewa and Abby King graciously accepted the honor in the presence of support staff, teachers, administrators, students, and community members in attendance at the Board meeting.

Superintendent Don Killingbeck, said, “This is one way we try to acknowledge the hard work and efforts of our employees. I would encourage everyone to nominate someone who goes above and beyond for recognition.”
